Jackie Ashley came to live at Abbeyfield House in Henleaze just a

few months ago and says it has already transformed her life for the better.

Once isolated and lonely, Jackie dreaded the thought of renting a one bedroom flat by herself. At Abbeyfield House, she’s found a new community and is enjoying a new stress-free life.

“I started looking online and when I came to visit Abbeyfield, it was just perfect because even at my age, I’m quite outgoing and like to meet people and do things. And that’s what you can do here”, says Jackie,

“It’s amazing – just having people around you, even if it’s just for a cup of tea on a day when you’re feeling a little bit down, it just lifts you”.

Enjoying life without the worry of running her own home

“I noticed that Abbeyfield offers flats to rent and I saw a little flat with communal areas. My flat is perfect. I have total independence but there’s always somebody to talk to. I’m also very independent and catch the bus from here to town or Cribbs Causeway”.

Jackie was also grateful for our help with her housing benefit application and is now able to enjoy life without the worry of running her own home.
