Cooking up comfort at Abbeyfield
At Abbeyfield, our cooks, are the soul of our houses. They provide delicious daily home cooked meals that bring our residents together. Always served in our communal dining rooms, lunch and tea times, offer residents opportunities to socialise and catch up with each other throughout the day.
Recently, we caught up with Michelle, one of the wonderful Cooks at Abbeyfield House in Redland.
Michelle has worked for Abbeyfield Bristol and Keynsham for over six years and in that time has worn a few different hats, but if you ask her…. the chef’s hat is her favourite!

After working as a General Assistant at our Kift Lodge House in Hanham for almost six years, Michelle took the leap and took on the role as Cook at our Redland House. A role she loves.
Cooking is her passion, but what makes it really special for her at Abbeyfield is the joy it brings to the residents. She says, “seeing the residents enjoying the food, after spending a few hours making a dish with love, is the best part about my job.”
At Abbeyfield, our staff really become a part of the house family and that’s exactly what Michelle thinks. After spending just a few months at Redland, “coming in everyday” has already made it feel like “home” to her.

If you ask her how she feels about the move from General Assistant to Cook, she will tell you it is “the best thing she could have ever done.”
And why would she encourage someone else to work for Abbeyfield?
Because “it’s a lovely place to work,” and all the staff “work together to build the best living environment for our residents.”
