It’s important to know that, here at Abbeyfield, we offer you a unique retirement: A wonderful alternative when you’re just struggling to live on your own, but don’t need a ‘care home’ or ‘residential care’.

“I’d always lived in Scotland and was happy living alone. But when I started to have problems on the stairs, my daughter suggested an Abbeyfield house near to where she lives in Bristol. I’ve never looked back.”    George, Redland

It’s often a difficult time for you, and your family, when considering the best accommodation options in older years. Sometimes the decision has to be taken against a backdrop of challenging circumstances: post bereavement, poor health, loneliness, or the simple realisation that living on your own is becoming too onerous. These are all common triggers that may lead you to feel you need more day to day support; or that you simply wish for better opportunities to build friendships and maintain an active social life.

When you rent a flat in an Abbeyfield house, we offer the perfect blend of independence, support, privacy and companionship.

As a resident you’ll rent your own self-contained flat, and because it’s situated within one of our lovely Abbeyfield houses, you’ll enjoy home-cooked meals, the freedom to come and go; time with new friends, or privacy when you want it. Life becomes pretty stress-free. No more trying to maintain a home and garden, no more admin and bills to sort out. And no commitment to buy, thanks to a monthly all-inclusive rental fee, which includes delicious home-cooked meals and all the bills. And of course a helping hand is ALWAYS around.

At Abbeyfield Bristol & Keynsham, our houses aren’t ‘care homes’ and we don’t offer ‘residential care’. You come and go as you please, but you’ll have a real sense of security knowing that a member of our team is always around, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you’re starting to struggle living on your own, we offer you the next best thing.

Peace of Mind

Our team members are caring, fully-trained and experienced. So whether it’s to hang a picture, help unscrew a jar, or play an evening board game, there’s always someone around. For you. What’s more, your loved ones can relax too, knowing there’s an Abbeyfield team member in the house at all times, and we know you’ll feel the same.

New Friends

There’s a great sense of community within our Abbeyfield houses, with companionship and social interaction at the very core of our ethos. From fish and chips in Chew Magna, to promenade walks in Weston super Mare; garden centre trips and walks to the local shops, no doubt you’ll enjoy the communities outside your house too.

Affordable Fees

We want everyone to be able to afford our fees and so are happy to accept housing benefit and pension credits towards your weekly rent. Our inclusive fees cover all bills (including council tax, utilities and TV licence); all meals and larder items. Our trained team members can discuss any financial concerns with your and may also be able to offer you a bursary if you need additional help.
