Supported Living House Manager Redland
This is pivotal role and involves leading the day-to-day operations of the Redland Road house, which comprises 17 one-bedroom and studio flats.
The role is 40 hours per week, with flexibility to ensure house coverage during office hours (Monday to Friday).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage staff rotas to always ensure adequate staffing.
- Liaise with the central office regarding prospective new resident visits.
- Oversee the smooth running of the kitchen, including health and safety, and hygiene.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the house and supervise housekeeping staff.
- Monitor residents’ well-being, and liaise as necessary with domiciliary support services, relatives, primary healthcare professionals, hospitals, registered residential and nursing homes, and new residents.
- Provide effective supervision, appraisals and communication with all staff, alongside staff development.
- Organise and promote a varied and stimulating programme of activities for the residents.
- Actively promoting community engagement.
- Ensure resident safety and well-being at all times, and regularly review procedures to maintain the highest standards of support.
- Liaise with the central office to ensure accurate staff wage payments, household invoices and petty cash management.
- Manage fire safety and maintain fire safety records.
- Maintain all necessary paperwork (e.g. accident book, fire checks, support plans, admission forms, hospital admission forms, risk assessments, accident forms, COSSH sheets etc.).
- Ensure the building and gardens are well-maintained, and liaise with colleagues as appropriate.
- In the event of a health crisis, ensure compliance with government and Society testing, health, and safety procedures.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Society’s Chief Executive Officer.
- Act in the best interests of Abbeyfield and its residents at all times, and maintain strict confidentiality.
What We Offer:
Starting at £33,647.61 per annum, with a 5.5% employer pension contribution. Salary is paid calendar monthly in arrears on the 28th of the month (or the previous working day if the 28th falls on a weekend or bank holiday), subject to statutory deductions.
28 days per annum, including 8 bank holidays, pro rata for part-time employees.
A hot meal is provided while on duty during the day.
Who You Are:
Essential
- Experience at a management level in a service delivery setting.
- Empathetic and understands the needs of older people.
- Able to communicate and interact well with a wide range of people in varied situations.
- Patient with the ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
- Able to read, write and work with numbers to a good standard with experience of accurate record keeping.
- Proficient in information technology.
- A strong and supportive leader and supervisor.
- Able to work on own initiative and under pressure in a diverse and changing environment.
- Willing and dedicated to undertake training courses and qualifications.
- Possess a clear DBS certificate suitable for working in a regulated environment.
Desirable
- Experience at a Management level in community, health or social care setting.
- Experience of working with older people.
- Either qualified to Level 3 in Management or equivalent or willing to undertake this training.
This is a permanent position, subject to a six-month probationary period, satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS), and two satisfactory references.
