British Pie Week certainly gets our residents talking each year, and our cooks do love a competition. Who will win the much-coveted Pie Week Trophy this year?

In Redland last week, last year’s winner Paul, cooked a delicious steak and mushroom pie, presented beautifully with delicious spring vegetables. Meanwhile, his sister and culinary-rival, Sara, went for a different strategy and made a sweet, apple and blackberry pie.

We had two very different pie entries at our house in Keynsham, too. Lovely cook Pat made a steak and mushroom pie, decorated with a pastry highland cow in the middle and surrounded by a border of pastry hearts.

Then cook Sue, (also at Keynsham, and also lovely ), somewhat controversially, opted for a Shepherds Pie which the residents enjoyed on Thursday.

All pies were totally scrummy and residents and team members alike, really enjoy the delicious results of our cooks’ hard work. Residents across the houses complete judging forms which will be assessed this week at Abbeyfield HQ, and the winner will be announced later this week.
