Evening General Assistant
The principle role of General Assistants in an Abbeyfield House is to help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our residents and guests, while assisting the House Manager, Cook and Housekeepers in the day to day practicalities of running the house
Hours: Alternate Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 5pm-9pm. Additional hours of work may be agreed with you by the House Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist with the serving of the evening meal and clearing up afterwards.
- To help prepare the evening meal as required.
- To assist with keeping the day room, dining room and communal areas clean and tidy.
- To ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
- Any other duties as required by the House Manager on a day to day or ad-hoc basis, such as some administrative tasks etc.
- Responsibility for providing, promoting and facilitating an active programme of activities for residents alongside your colleagues.
- Responsibility for managing and responding to emergencies if necessary to ensure the well-being of our residents, including liaising with family members and outside agencies as required.
- Responsibility for evening welfare checks.
- Responsibility for the safety of the building and securing the building at the end of your shift.
- To maintain confidentiality and act in the best interests of the Society at all times.
- To complete mandatory and appropriate training modules.
- In the event of a health crisis, such as COVID-19, you must ensure that you are following
procedures for testing and health and safety in accordance with government and Society guidelines.

- Have at least basic IT skills; you’ll sometimes need to use IT systems.

- A clear DBS certificate entitling you to work in a regulated environment, and the right to work in the UK.
Experience:
- Are experienced in working in a similar role.
- Are experienced in working within services for vulnerable adults or people in later life.
