They say your biggest advocates are your own customers, so we’ve asked our residents if they’d like to help us spread the word about what we do here in the Bristol area.
Thank you to Eileen, for volunteering to be our first “Resident in the Spotlight” this month. Eileen has lived at our gorgeous house in Easter Compton for 16 months, and is looked after by a wonderful team; headed up by manager, Pauline. She heard about Abbeyfield through her daughter-in-law who knew of someone who had lived with in the house for 6 years.
Says Eileen, “I came along to visit the house here at Home Farm Way with my 3 sons….and I loved it straight away”.
Like many of our residents, Eileen had lived in her family home before coming to Abbeyfield, where she had lived for a long time: 35 years, in her case, but was very relaxed about moving.
When her husband passed away, Eileen knew a move was a sensible decision, “I didn’t find it difficult to downsize”, she explains, “When I was a young woman I was in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS), and we had very small rooms and just a small box of personal belonging. So, compared to that, I have heaps of space at Abbeyfield!”.
So, what’s the best thing about living in an Abbeyfield house, Eileen?
“The best thing about living here is that you have your freedom to come and go as you please. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, but at the same time they encourage us to be independent. It’s homely and bright within the house, and there are lovely gardens to sit in during the warmer months”.
Eileen enjoys daily walks with her family, who come to visit, and appreciates the peace of mind that they all have, knowing there’s always someone around for her, should she need any help in the house.
”I would recommend Abbeyfield to anyone. It’s worry-free living”.
We couldn’t have said it better. Thanks Eileen!!
